	Action: Closing the two (2) right lanes for surveying work, paving and roadway striping operation to implement a traffic switch.

	Location: I-95/495N  ramps to Route 1N&S.
	Action: Closing ramps for surveying work & paving and roadway striping operation to implement a traffic switch.
	Detour: Use ramp to Telegraph Rd. S to Huntington Avenue E to Route 1N&S.

	Location: Telegraph Rd. N ramp to I-95/495N (Outer Loop).
	Action: Closing ramp for surveying work & paving and roadway striping operation to implement a traffic switch.
	Detour: Huntington Avenue E to Route 1N to left at Duke St. to left to Route 1S I-95/495S (Inner Loop) to Telegraph Rd. S to I-95/495N (Outer Loop).

	Detour: Traffic detoured to I-95/495W (Inner Loop).

	Date:	05/10	Time:	1:00 pm (Sat) - as late as 05/12/08 (M) 5:00 am
	Location: I-95/495N (Outer Loop) between Eisenhower Avenue & Route 1.
	Action: Closing the left lane for a paving and roadway striping operation to implement a traffic switch.

     I-95/495:

	Date:	05/12 - 05/13	Time:	9:00 pm - 5:00 am (M-T)
	Location: I-95/495N (Outer Loop) ramp to Route 1N.
	Action: Closing ramp for overhead bridge work.
	Detour: Use ramp to Route 1S to left at signal to Route 1N

	Date:	05/12 - 05/18	Time:	9:00 pm - 5:00 am (M-Sun)
	Location: I-95/495S (Inner Loop) between the WW Bridge & Telegraph Rd.
	Action: Closing right lane, with twenty (20) minute total stoppages of traffic after midnight to erect steel bridge girders.

	Date:	05/12 - 05/16	Time:	9:30 pm - 5:00 am (M-F)
	Location: I-95/495S (Inner Loop) ramp to Route 1N.
	Action: Closing ramp for drainage installation.
	Detour: Use ramp to Telegraph Rd. S to I-95/495N (Outer Loop) to Route 1N

     Route 1:

	Date:	05/12 - 05/16	Time:	9:30 am - 3:30 pm (M-TH) 9:00 am - 12:00 pm (F)
	Location: Route 1N&S between Franklin St. and Huntington Avenue.
	Action: Closing alternating lanes one lane at a time in each direction for various roadway construction.

	Date:	05/12 - 05/16	Time:	9:30 am - 3:30 pm (M-TH) 9:00 am - 12:00 pm (F)
	Location: Route 1S ramp to I-95/495 N&S (Inner & Outer Loops).
	Action: Narrowing ramp, shifting traffic to the left for utility work.

     Fairfax County:

	Date:	05/12 - 05/16	Time:	9:30 am - 3:00 pm (M-TH) 9:00 am - 12:00 pm (F)
	Location: Telegraph Rd. N&S between Farmington Drive & I-95/495 overpass.
	Action: Closing alternating lanes one lane at a time in each direction for various roadway construction.

	Date:	05/12 - 05/16	Time:	9:30 am - 3:00 pm (M-TH) 9:00 am - 12:00 pm (F)
	Location: North Kings Highway S between Lenore Lane & Telegraph Rd.
	Action: Closing right lane for utility work.

	Date:	Until further notice	Time:	24 hour a day closure
	Location: Huntington Avenue access to Old Richmond Highway.
	Action: No access for roadway construction.

	Location: Livingston Rd. E&W at I-95/495.
	Action: Closing alternating lanes, one lane at a time in each direction for overhead bridge work.

Traffic Impact	Date

	NB I-95 Lane Shift (VA-6/7): Shift all NB I-95 (OL) traffic onto between Telegraph Road and US 1 interchanges. Number of lanes will remain unchanged. Open new ramp from Telegraph Rd. NB to OLL.	May 9, 2008

 

	SB I-95 Lane Shift onto new Wilson Bridge (VA-6/7 & MA-4): Shift all SB I-95 (IL) traffic onto ILL between I-295 and US 1 interchanges across the new Wilson Bridge. Number of lanes will remain unchanged.	May 30, 2008

 

	SB I-95 Lane Shift & Reduction (VB-2/3/6): Continue three lane configuration for SB-I95 (IL) traffic from Telegraph Road to Eisenhower Avenue Connector. Shift all traffic to the south from Telegraph Road to Eisenhower Avenue Connector.	June 6, 2008

 

	SB US 1 Lane Shift (VA-6/7): Shift all SB US 1 traffic onto new bridge over I-95/495. Number of lanes will remain unchanged while median areas are fully constructed.	Mid June 2008

 

	NB I-95 Lane Shift (MB-4): Shift all NB I-95 (OL) traffic onto OLL between MD 210 and MD 414 interchanges. Number of lanes will remain unchanged.	Fall 2008

FHWA's "Safety Tips to Live By"

Stay alert and give full attention to the roadway. Pay close attention to signs and work zone flaggers. Turn on headlights so workers and other drivers can see your vehicle. Do not tailgate. Do not speed. Slow down to the posted speed limits. Keep up with traffic flow. Do not change lanes in work zones. Minimize distractions in vehicles. Avoid changing radio stations and using mobile phones in work zones.

    How to Avoid Being An Aggressive Driver

• Allow more travel time to get to your destination. It reduces stress dramatically.
• Come to a full stop at red lights and stop signs. Never run yellow lights.
• Let other drivers merge with you.
• Obey posted speed limits.
• Don't ever follow other drivers too closely.
• Resist temptation to teach someone "a lesson".
• Concentrate on driving - not on cell phones, stereo, passengers or other distractions.
• Remember that you can't control traffic - but you can control yourself, your driving, and your emotions.

    How to Avoid Aggressive Drivers

• Get out of their way and steer clear of them on the road.
• Stay relaxed. Remember that reaching your destination safety and calmly is your goal.
• Don't challenge them. Avoid eye contact. Ignore rude gestures and refuse to return them.
• Give them the benefit of the doubt. Not all aggressive driving behavior is intentional.
• Don't block the passing lane, especially if you are driving slower than most of the traffic. Move over to the right lane.
• Dial #77 on a cell phone to report aggressive drivers or call your local police, when you can.
