The Telegraph Road Interchange project involves the complete reconstruction of the existing interchange to include ramp improvements, bridge widening/lengthening and widening of the I-95/I-495 mainline roadway section from 2.08 miles west of Telegraph Road to 0.5 miles to the east. Improvements along Telegraph Road will include roadway reconstruction, bridge reconstruction, intersection improvements and utility relocations from Duke Street on the north to Lenore Lane to the south.
The Telegraph Road Interchange project includes typical types of construction elements found in a modern highway interchange reconstruction project under traffic. Approximate quantities of specific construction elements for this interchange include the following:
Because of the proximity of the Cameron Run stream to the Telegraph Road Interchange, the project will unavoidably impact nearby non-tidal wetlands. Off-site wetland mitigation construction at several locations may be included in the project scope. Several existing businesses along Telegraph Road and Huntington Avenue, south of I-95/I-495, are anticipated to be displaced as a result of the improvements to the southern at-grade intersections.
