The four agencies are a Team that work together to address the issues associated with the design and construction of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project. There is overlap and issues of mutual concern in which all or certain members of the WWB Team participate on a day-to-day basis.
Federal Highway Administration
Currently, the federal government owns the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. Their role in the Project is to provide oversight from a federal perspective with respect to funding, and management of the inspection and rehabilitation of the existing bridge. Funding for the ongoing maintenance, design and construction will be managed by the FHWA.
Maryland State Highway Administration
The conduct of the Bridge Design Competition and all technical aspects of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge design and construction lie with the Maryland SHA. They are managing all contracts associated with the bridge as well as the design and construction of the I-95 / MD 210 and I-95 / I-295 interchanges.
Virginia Department of Transportation
The overall management of the General Engineering Consultant contract is the responsibility of VDOT. They also manage all contracts associated with the design and construction of the I-95 / Telegraph Road and I-95 / US Route 1 interchanges.
District Department of Transportation
As part of the Sponsoring Agency Team, D.DOT is a participant in all of the meetings concerning the Project.
