Bridge Projects

<div id="p7ssm_description" style="display: block;"><strong>Maryland Approach Spans</strong><br /> Aerial view looking west construction of the second span of the Wilson Bridge. The first span opened to traffic in mid-2006 with the second bridge scheduled to open in mid-2008. The contractor for the majority of the Potomac River work elected to leave the old bridge in place and use it as staging for constructing the second bridge. This saved both time and environmental impact (approximately five acres of sub-aquatic vegetation was preserved).
