Maryland Approach Spans
View (looking west) of the bridge construction for the Maryland Approach contract from the Maryland abutment (where the bridge meets land) to the draw span work. The pile in the foreground is a steel pipe piles (48 inches in diameter and 110 foot in length) . These piles will be used as the foundation support for the abutment, a total of 100 piles will be driven at this location. The new bridges are 30 feet south of the existing bridge.
