Redesign of the island from the previous concept plans is underway. The revisions will be presented to the Stakeholder Participation Panel in March 2004. The contract will be advertised as part of the last I-295 interchange contract to be advertised in August 2004.

It is interesting to note that a pair of nesting eagles built its nest in the band of trees on the southern tip of Rosalie Island . Two eaglets hatched last spring and flew around with the parents until they fledged in the fall. The north side of the island attracts many bald eagles and will be preserved as a bald eagle sanctuary. As you drive on the Beltway on Rosalie Island, you may see some of the eagles perched in the trees.
