Major OVERNIGHT I-95/Capital Beltway Impacts June 24-25

Motorists Urged to Use Alternate Routes

On Thursday night, June 24, construction work will require ramp and multiple lane closures in both directions of the Capital Beltway (I-95/495) in the Telegraph Road interchange area as part of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project.

Beginning at 10 p.m. Thursday, June 24 crews will narrow the roadways to one lane on both loops of the Beltway in order to accommodate concrete placement on the new ramp from the Outer Loop to Telegraph Road North. Work is expected to be complete by 5 a.m. the following morning, Friday, June 25.

The detailed lane and ramp closures and corresponding detours are as follows:

  • Capital Beltway Outer Loop (I-95/495 North) and Inner Loop (I-95/495 South) will be narrowed to one lane. The far right lane in both directions will be open to traffic.
  • Both ramps from Telegraph Road to the Inner Loop (I-95/495 South) will be closed.
    • Detour : Motorists should take Eisenhower Avenue West to reconnect with the Inner Loop at the Eisenhower Avenue Connector.
  • The Ramp from Telegraph Road South to the Outer Loop (I-95/495) will be closed.
    • Detour: Motorists should take Telegraph Road South to Huntington Avenue East to U.S. Route 1 to reconnect with the Beltway Outer Loop.
  • Both ramps from U.S. Route 1 to the Inner Loop Thru lanes will be closed.
    • Detour : Motorists will be redirected to the Inner Loop Local lanes.

Motorists should expect back-ups and consider alternate routes to avoid delays. Travelers passing through on I-95 should consider traveling via the western portion of the Capital Beltway. Please use caution when traveling in this area. All construction-related work and dates are subject to change, depending on weather, material and contractor availability or other unforeseen conditions.
