Motorists Urged to Use Alternate Routes
During the week of July 11 construction work will require ramp and lane closures in both directions of the Capital Beltway (I-95/495) and on Telegraph Road in the Telegraph Road interchange area as part of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project. Beginning at 9 p.m. Monday, July 12 crews will narrow the roadways to three lanes on both loops of the Beltway in order to accommodate concrete placement on the new ramp from the Outer Loop to Telegraph Road North. Work is expected to be complete by 5 a.m. the following morning, Tuesday, July 13. Crews began installing a protective shielding below the bridge over the CSX/Metro train tracks and Mill Road the week of July 4. This shielding will remain in place during bridge reconstruction. For safety reasons and due to time restrictions required by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), the portion of the work over the WMATA tracks can only occur between the hours of 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. Noise impacts are expected to be low, but local residents may hear the hum of generators and other machinery while the shielding is being installed. Independent noise monitors will be on site to ensure that noise levels do not go above predetermined thresholds. The detailed lane/ramp closures and corresponding detours are found below: Capital Beltway I-95/495 and Telegraph Road - Night Work Sunday, July 11 to Thursday, July 15 from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning:
