Week of July 25

Motorists Urged to Use Alternate Routes

During the week of July 25 construction activities will require ramp and lane closures on the Capital Beltway Inner Loop (I-95/495 South) and on Telegraph Road as part of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project.

Crews will continue to install protective shielding below the bridge over the CSX/Metro train tracks and Mill Road throughout this week, requiring periodic, full Telegraph Road North closures. Due to time restrictions required by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), the portion of the work over the tracks can only occur between the hours of 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. Noise impacts are expected to be low, but local residents may hear the hum of generators and other machinery while the shielding is being installed.

Capital Beltway I-95/495 and Telegraph Road - Night Work

Sunday, July 25 to Thursday, July 29 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning:

  • Telegraph Road North will be narrowed to one lane with periodic 15-minute full closures between Huntington Avenue and Duke Street.

Sunday, July 25 to Thursday, July 29 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning:

  • Inner Loop (I-95/495 South) ramp to Telegraph Road North/Pershing Avenue will be closed.
    • Detour: Motorists should exit at U.S. Route 1 South, turn right on Huntington Avenue West to take Telegraph Road North.
  • Pershing Avenue West to Telegraph Road North will be closed.
    • Detour: Motorists should take Eisenhower Avenue East to Holland Lane and then turn left on Duke Street.

Sunday, July 25 to Friday, July 29 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning:

  • Telegraph Road South will be narrowed to one lane between Mill Road and Huntington Avenue.

Capital Beltway I-95/495 and Telegraph Road - Day Work

Daily, Monday, July 26 to Thursday, July 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday, July 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon:

  • Telegraph Road North will be narrowed to one lane between Huntington Avenue and Pershing Avenue.
  • Telegraph Road South will be narrowed to one lane between Mill Road and Huntington Avenue.

Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes to their destinations to avoid delays. Please use caution when traveling in this area. All construction-related work and dates are subject to change, depending on weather, material and contractor availability or other unforeseen conditions.
