Ramps to/from Capital Beltway to Close OVERNIGHT

September 1

Motorists Urged to Use Alternate Routes

As part of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project, ramp realignment activities will require ramp and lane closures overnight Wednesday, Sept. 1 in the Capital Beltway (I-95/495 South) Telegraph Road area.

At approximately 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, crews will close the ramp from Telegraph Road North to the Capital Beltway Inner Loop (I-95/495 South) to prepare for ramp realignment. Restriping activities will require the closure of the access road and ramp from the Inner Loop to Telegraph Road South at 9 p.m. All ramp and lane closures will be removed by 5 a.m. Thursday morning.

The detailed ramp closures and corresponding detours are found below:

  • Telegraph Road South to the Inner Loop (I-95/495 South) will be closed.
    • Detour: Motorists should take the ramp from Telegraph Road North to Eisenhower Avenue, turn left onto Eisenhower Avenue West, and reconnect with the Inner Loop at the Eisenhower Connector.
  • Inner Loop (I-95/495 South) to Telegraph Road South will be closed.
    • Detour: Motorists should continue on the Inner Loop to the Eisenhower Connector and exit onto Eisenhower Avenue East, make a left onto Mill Road, then a right onto Telegraph Road South.

This scheduled work is in addition to any previously announced closures. Variable message signs are posted to alert travelers of this overnight activity. Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes to their destinations to avoid delays. Please use caution when traveling in this area.

All construction-related work and dates are subject to change, depending on weather, material and contractor availability or other unforeseen conditions.
