Weather permitting, the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project will be conducting Capital Beltway and Telegraph Road area closures December 4-14. Variable message signs will be posted to alert drivers and provide detour information when necessary. This work will have major impacts on Beltway and local traffic, and motorists are strongly advised to seek alternate routes to avoid delays. The scheduled work is as follows.
CAPITAL BELTWAY CLOSURES
Sunday, Dec. 4 through Thursday, Dec. 8 NIGHTLY from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning:

TELEGRAPH ROAD INTERCHANGE CLOSURES
Wednesday, Dec. 7 until Monday, Dec. 12 – Closure of Outer Loop ramp to Huntington Avenue:

Beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7, the ramp from the Outer Loop LOCAL lanes to Huntington Avenue will be closed continuously until 5 a.m. on Monday, December 12. The portion of the ramps to N. King’s Highway and Telegraph Road South will remain open during this time. o Detour: Motorists traveling on the Outer Loop LOCAL lanes wishing to go to Huntington Avenue will be advised via variable message signs to proceed to U.S. Route 1 to Huntington Avenue. This closure is necessary to widen the ramp to Huntington to the planned dimensions, which was not possible during the previous phases of construction of the interchange.

Monday, Dec. 5 at 9 a.m. through Saturday, Dec. 10 at 5 p.m.:

One lane in each direction of Mill Road under the Telegraph Road bridge over the railroad tracks will be closed on Monday, Dec. 12, and all lanes will be closed from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 13 and Dec. 14 to set new steel girders for the bridge. o Detour: Motorists traveling from the Carlyle area behind the Hoffman Buildings who wish to access Telegraph Road South should turn left on Stovall Street to right on Eisenhower Avenue to right on Mill Road to Telegraph Road South. The reverse of this detour route would apply to motorists headed to the Carlyle area.
