Capital Beltway and Telegraph Road Area Closures January 6-14 Print E-mail

Weather permitting, the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project will be conducting Capital Beltway and Telegraph Road area closures January 6-14.  Variable message signs will be posted to alert drivers and provide detour information when necessary.  This work will have major impacts on Beltway and local traffic, and motorists are strongly advised to seek alternate routes to avoid delays. The scheduled work is as follows.

CAPITAL BELTWAY CLOSURES

 

Monday, Jan. 9 and Wednesday, Jan. 11 NIGHTLY from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning:

 

  • Two lanes of the Capital Beltway Outer Loop (I-95/495 North) will be closed between Eisenhower Connector and Telegraph Road to install overhead signs.  The right lane will close around 9 p.m. each night, and the center lane will close around 11 p.m. each night, leaving one lane open from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning.

 

Tuesday, Jan. 10 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning:

 

  • The Capital Beltway Inner Loop (I-95/495 South) THRU lanes will be reduced to one lane between U.S. Route 1 and Telegraph Road for overhead sign installation.  Note that after the merge with the LOCAL lane, there will be two lanes open in this corridor.

 

Monday, Jan. 9 and Tuesday, Jan. 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. DAILY:

 

  • There will be rolling temporary single lane closures on the Inner Loop, Outer Loop and on-ramps and exit ramps in the Telegraph Road interchange to accommodate critical roadway spot repairs.

 

TELEGRAPH ROAD INTERCHANGE CLOSURES

 

Monday, Jan. 9  through Wednesday, Jan. 11 DAILY from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.:

 

  • The ramp from Telegraph Road South to the Capital Beltway Outer Loop (I-95/495 North) will be closed for roadway construction. 
    o Detour:  Motorists should take the Huntington Avenue ramp to Huntington Avenue East to U.S. Route 1 North to the on-ramp to the Outer Loop.

 

Monday, Jan. 9  through Thursday, Jan. 12 DAILY from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Friday, Jan. 13 from 9:30 a.m. to noon:

 

  • The ramp from Telegraph Road South to N. Kings Highway will be closed for roadway construction. 
    o Detour:  Motorists should take the Huntington Avenue ramp to Huntington Avenue East to U.S. Route 1 South to N. Kings Highway.

 

Thursday, Jan. 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Friday, Jan. 13 from 9:30 a.m. to noon:

 

  • The ramp from Telegraph Road South to the Capital Beltway Inner Loop (I-95/495 South) will be closed for roadway construction. 
    o Detour:  Motorists should take the Huntington Avenue ramp to Huntington Avenue East to U.S. Route 1 North to the on-ramp to the Inner Loop.

 

Monday, Jan. 9 through Wednesday, Jan. 11 DAILY from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.:

 

  • The right shoulder on the ramp from Telegraph Road North to the Capital Beltway Inner Loop (I-95/495 South) will be closed for roadway construction.  The on-ramp lane remains open.

 

MILL ROAD CLOSURES

 

Friday, Jan. 6 through Saturday, Jan. 14 at 3 p.m.:

 

  • One lane of Mill Road North where it connects to Telegraph Road South will be closed continuously to complete the installation of safety features including guardrails, barriers and curbs.  One northbound lane will remain open.
