Telegraph Road Interchange and Area Closures January 21-30 Print E-mail

Weather permitting, the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project will be conducting Telegraph Road interchange and other area closures January 21-30.  Variable message signs will be posted to alert drivers and provide detour information when necessary.  This work will have significant impacts on Beltway and local traffic, and motorists are strongly advised to seek alternate routes to avoid delays. The scheduled work is as follows.

TELEGRAPH ROAD INTERCHANGE CLOSURES

 

Sunday, Jan. 22 OVERNIGHT from 9 p.m. to midnight; also Monday, Jan. 23 through Thursday, Jan. 26 DAILY from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Friday, Jan. 27 from 9 a.m. to noon:

 

  • The ramp from Telegraph Road South to the Capital Beltway Outer Loop (I-95/495 North) will be closed for roadway construction. 
    o Detour:  Motorists should take the Huntington Avenue ramp to Huntington Avenue East to U.S. Route 1 North to the on-ramp to the Outer Loop. Note that the Sunday overnight work was originally scheduled for tonight, Friday, Jan. 20.  The rain dates for this work are either Monday, Jan. 23 or Tuesday, Jan. 24.

 

Sunday night, Jan. 22 at 11:59 p.m.:

 

  • Telegraph Road South will be completely closed for 15 minutes just after midnight from just before the ramp to the Capital Beltway Outer Loop (I-95/495 North) to Huntington Avenue for roadway construction.  The exit for the Outer Loop will be closed but the exit for the Inner Loop (I-95/495 South) will still be open.  Note that the Sunday overnight work was originally scheduled for tonight, Friday, Jan. 20.  The rain dates for this work are either Monday, Jan. 23 or Tuesday, Jan. 24.

 

Sunday, Jan. 22 OVERNIGHT from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning; also Monday, Jan. 23 through Thursday, Jan. 26 DAILY from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Friday, Jan. 27 from 9 a.m. to noon:

 

  • The ramp from Telegraph Road South to N. Kings Highway will be closed for roadway construction. 
    o Detour:  Motorists should take the Huntington Avenue ramp to Huntington Avenue East to U.S. Route 1 South to N. Kings Highway. Note that the Sunday overnight work was originally scheduled for tonight, Friday, Jan. 20.  The rain dates for this work are either Monday, Jan. 23 or Tuesday, Jan. 24.

 

Wednesday, Jan. 25 and Thursday, Jan. 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Friday, Jan. 27 from 9:30 a.m. to noon:

 

  • The exit from the Capital Beltway Outer Loop (I-95/495 North) to Huntington Avenue will be closed to set light pole foundations. 
    o Detour: Motorists should take the exit ramp for N. Kings Highway to left on U.S. Route 1 North to left on Huntington Avenue.

 

Wednesday, Jan. 25 and Thursday, Jan. 26 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

 

  • The access from Pershing Avenue to Telegraph Road North will be closed to place asphalt. 
    o Detour:  Motorists should take Eisenhower Avenue East to the traffic circle to Holland Lane to Duke Street.

 

Friday, Jan. 27 at 9 p.m. continuously until Monday, Jan. 30 at 5 a.m.:

 

  • The ramp from Duke Street East to Telegraph Road South will be closed continuously to place asphalt. 
    o Detour:  Motorists should continue eastbound on Duke Street to U.S. Route 1 South to the on-ramps to the Capital Beltway Inner and Outer Loops.  Motorists going to Telegraph Road South should turn right from U.S. Route 1 South onto Huntington Avenue to return to Telegraph Road.  Note: Duke Street West access to Telegraph Road South will remain open.

 

MILL ROAD CLOSURES

 

Saturday, Jan. 21 continuously until Saturday, Jan. 28 at 3 p.m.:

 

  • One lane of Mill Road North where it connects to Telegraph Road South will be closed to complete the installation of safety features including guardrails, barriers and curbs.  One northbound lane will remain open.

 

Friday, Jan. 27 at 9 p.m. continuously until Monday, Jan. 30 at 5 a.m.:

 

  • There will be no access from Telegraph Road South to Mill Road and no access from Mill Road to Telegraph Road South. 
    o Detours:  Motorists headed to Telegraph Road South should take Mill Road to Stovall Street to Eisenhower Avenue East to the traffic circle to Duke Street West to the ramp to Telegraph Road South.  Motorists who wish to access the Eisenhower Valley should continue south on Telegraph Road to Farmington Drive, make a U-turn and return on Telegraph Road North to the ramp to Eisenhower Avenue.
